DSC_2257How does an Aussie born over 11,000 miles away end up with a small town girl from Mooresville, Indiana?  It was all part of God’s plan!  Neil was a teacher.  So is Amy.  Neil lived in Mooresville from 2006-2007.  So did Amy.  Neil visited the Camby Starbucks from 2006-2008 regularly.  So did Amy…although Amy was purchasing coffee and Neil was WORKING there…with Amy’s brother!  Amy loved to read a small newspaper publication called Coffee News from 2006-2011.  Neil was the publisher of that paper.  Neil’s son Jaxon ran track and competed at Lynhurst 7th and 8th Grade center one unusually cold spring day…where Amy was a teacher selling tickets to that meet.  So many chances to meet, yet they NEVER did…until the time was right.

Amy had given online dating a shot only ONE time in her life, when there was an offer for a free 30-day trial to Christian Mingle.  29 days later, after a few “one and done” dates, Amy decided it was time to de-activate her account and end her experience with online dating.  While closing the account, there, amongst a flood of a few forgotten messages, there was one particularly persistent guy who sent one…last…message.  The sender reminded Amy that he had sent a few messages earlier, and that he really believed they had a lot in common, and that they should try to meet.  Amy, annoyed at online dating, yet intrigued by this persistent guy, informed the sender that effective immediately she was off of Christian mingle, but that if he wanted to send her a text some time, she would consider that, and gave him her number.  About two days…and over a thousand text messages…later, they decided to go to dinner.  That sender, AKA Neil Richmund, and Amy Card have been together ever since.

Neil and Amy’s relationship has been a journey filled with adventures at every turn.  With two seventh grade boys, Jaxon and Scotty, and a freshman girl, Kayla, between them, there has certainly never been a dull moment.  One thing is for certain – both struggles and celebrations have been better because they’ve been together.  Whether it was Amy replacing her knees or Neil replacing his job, they have been there, faithfully, for each other when times were rough.  Whether it was Amy finishing her admin license or Neil finishing his marketing certification, they have seen each other through sacrificing and hard work, supporting each other every step of the way.  Whether it’s venturing cross country with a car full of five middle schoolers for a Myrtle Beach vacation, or venturing to Kentucky with 14 teenagers for a Mission trip, Neil and Amy have stood together – sometimes leading kids…and sometimes acting like them…and sharing their faith every step of the way!

Neil and Amy have a strong faith that grows even stronger every day.  In addition to being involved with other various activities at their church, FUMC Mooresville, Neil and Amy help with the youth group there, and Neil brings his Aussie accent to do scripture lessons during the worship services.  What they have done at FUMC has been so instrumental in their lives, but the people they have met along the way have been even more instrumental.  They have been richly blessed to have a special set of people they call their church family, along with even more blessings from other family and friends from other areas of their lives, and they are so excited to share in this special day with all of them.  The only thing that can top the time they’ve spent together so far with so many special people is the awesome future that lies ahead.  Thank you for being a special part of both Neil and Amy’s past…AND future!

My favorite Neil and Amy story would have to be, the time Amy set an appt for Neils haircut. (Like a wife does hehe) then his appt time rolls around NO Neil? Amy forgot to tell him. Needless to say Neil makes his own appts now. It was great we laugh about it still. I have so many wonderful stories of them and I am so happy they have found each other. I have known Amy a long time and see she has met her match:-)

My favorite memory of Neil is meeting him for the first time at Jos. A. Bank . Listening to him about his passion of his publication was truly interesting and I knew he was passionate of life. I love his accent and is very memorable . Wishing you and Amy a wonderful life together. Let me know if I can assist.
Many blessings for all of you.

I just wanted to say that my class in high school had the privilege of having Pastor Neil as our teacher. Our class was without a doubt the most difficult class a teacher could ever think of. Through it all, he was a Christ centered example of patience, kindness, and a giving spirit. As it goes I am now a high school teacher and I fully recognize how difficult it would have been to put up with our class which speaks volumes for the man that Neil is. Thank you for your service to God and to others!

I’ll never forget the first time I met Neil. It was at school, where he and his son visited to have lunch with Amy. I first remember thinking how happy Amy was as she proudly bragged about how quickly Neil’s son can solve a Rubik’s Cube. I could tell how much she cared about them both. Neil made an immediate good impression as he tolerated me being smitten with his accent. 🙂 He also wasn’t offended when I was confused after he asked where the rubbish was! I am beyond excited for these two and their families, and I wish them continued happiness for all their lives! Congratulations!

My favorite Neil and My mom story is when I hit Neil with a foam roller… in a place that shouldn’t be hit and he started to run after me and I got flattened like a pancake and Jaxon started to ride Neil and bounce on him so he couldn’t get up!!!?

One of the memorable things with Amy and Neil is Neil always calling a visit from me an episode of THE CAL SHOW! Interpreting between Kentuckian and Australian has always been fun.

My favorite memory…that we still laugh about today…is my constant forgetfulness that Neil doesn’t eat pork. I have offered him to come over for pork roast, pork loin, ham, and bacon countless times…just as shocked as the first time EVERY TIME he reminds me that he doesn’t eat pork. The topper has to be how hard Neil laughed at how proud I was of the nice HAM HOCK I bought from Value Market to fix with beans. As they dropped me back off at home, I nearly left it behind in their car, so Neil shouted, “Don’t forget your ham hock!”

One of my favorite memories of Neil and Amy was when uncle Mike and myself had been invited to have to Neil’s for Pizza day! He makes such FANTASTIC pizzas with homemade pizza crust! We ate and ate the delicious pizza and later Neil offered some Popsicles and ice cream. Well I have always preferred popsicles over ice cream and he had these sour koolaid kind. Needless to say it was my new favorite treat. Well when we left Neil’s I ended up going to 6 different places looking to buy them. Well it was a long fruitless day. I called Amy and asked her where Neil and purchased them and she said she thought it was at the dollar tree. I had checked there but was only checking in freezer areas bcs after all they were Popsicles. So I believe the next day I get a knock on our door and opened it and it was Neil’s bringing ME the very same new favorite treats sour koolaid Popsicles! I thanked him so much and asked were on earth did you find these? I told him I looked in all the freezer areas of all stores and he said “no no they’re in the summer fun things, they’re not frozen yet”. ☺️ We had a good laugh over it. But it was the sweetest gesture for him to just up and go get those for me and bring them to me with that big smile of his! We love him so much and are so happy for Amy and Neil. We are looking forward to more pizza days with frozen treats! Xoxo

My memories come through Kayla, Amy’s sweet daughter. I had the good fortune of being Kayla’s 2nd grade teacher. Since then, I have grown to know Amy better and kjow that she strives to raise her children in a Christian home. It’s no doubt that Amy is doing something right, and I’m so happy that she has found a forever companion in Neil! Congratulations to you all!!!

Our favorite moments with Neal, Amy and the kids were getting together at Amy’s during Christmas time last year. We had so much making gingerbread houses. Leslie still talks about it! Also the night we all went to go see the Christmas lights in Greenwood. I’ll never forget the delicious Carmel Apple Ciders Amy made for us!

I owe much of my life to the influence of “P” I am forever grateful for his constant witness in my wayward days, and for the appeal he made in the fellowship hall of the Centerville Seventh-day Adventist Church, April 26, 1996. In the years after that decision he then moved from leading me to Jesus, into helping me to become more like Jesus and to serve him with all my life. It was with “P” in Rochester, NY that I felt the call into ministry, and he always supported me in that decision. He’s been with me in the best times of my life, my wedding and other such high points, and in the lowest times of my life this past February. I love you Neil! I praise the Lord for the happiness He has brought to your life in this new love, may it be ’till His coming and may we all be reunited there. I know you will have a star in your crown b/c of how you lead me to Jesus. Love you brother, -Chad
